We would like to express our thanks to Erica, Scott their wonderful families and wedding party for an absolutely amazing day.    This day was filled with laughter, hugs and incredible beauty from the very first moments.

The Newseum is a completely amazing place to marry, so relevant in our culture, in our editorial past and in our future.  Every wall in the museum documents a moment in history as seen through the news of the day.  What a perfect place to marry for a couple who have dedicated their lives to service and to making a better future for all of us.

One of the most priceless experiences of a wedding day is the joy of seeing four generations of a family celebrate, from the littlest flower girls bouncing on the bed in the morning, to a beloved grandma, joyfully dancing the evening away.  This was Stacey and Rob’s beautiful day.

St. Matthews and the Mayflower are the two most romantic, historic buildings in DC and have played an incredible role in DC history.  Called the “Grande Dame of Washington” the Mayflower was home to Harry Truman during the renovation of the White House and the host to the inaugural ball of Calvin Coolidge.  There is nothing more romantic then being married in the stunning architecture of the Mayflower.

Even the busiest Washingtonian’s take time out on a beautiful day like this to say…. “we wish you well”.  Susan and Michael we very surely do.  You were so beautiful.   As family and friends spilled out from St Sophia‘s you could hear people saying … “how beautiful”, “what a stunning ceremony”.

St. Sophia’s Historic Cathedral is one of DC’s most awe inspiring sanctuaries with a golden dome 80 feet high and clearstory windows that pour light over the ceremony. Everyone down to the littlest child sat absolutely attentive to the beautiful Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony chanted in perfect clear voice.

Susan and Michael walked Freedom Plaza at sunset and then spent the evening celebrating in the Pavillion of the Reagan Center to wonderful food, traditional Greek dance, an awesome dance band and a very lively party.

Part of what is most beautiful about a wedding day is the labor of love which says so much about a family… in Melissa’s amazing hand laced dress, mom and sis spending their time laughing and lacing, dad patiently toting flowers all along the waterfront, to a priceless groom meticulously ironing his own handkerchief to put his best foot forward before greeting the most important girl in his life – his bride to be.

The magic of a wedding day is in the loving details and in the amazing people who bring each detail to life.

We would like to express our congratulations and thanks to Melissa and Amir and their wonderful families for an absolutely beautiful, fun filled day.

20 years from now you will very likely remember how crisp the air was, how beautiful the Jefferson was on your brief walk through it’s towering pillars, how the courtyard was perfect and how, for a few precious moments, the world stood still.    

A wedding day is sometimes described as surreal, it seems to fly by.  What we take away are special moments, smiles, the antics of little ones and the beauty of the day. This day could not have been more beautiful.
